“The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.” (Keyser Soze – The Usual Suspects).
Sometimes for Christians the opposite is true where the devil is to blame for every negative experience in life. So the world views him as a bit of a joke and yet the bible take him seriously but what are his common tactics given that we are to neither underestimate or overestimate him ?
In Matthew 4:1-11 there’s a head on encounter between Jesus and the devil and we can assume he throws his best at Jesus. Let’s look at the punches he pulls and the nature of the fight we’re up against. Continue reading “Dealing with the Devil”
On Tuesday 2nd March we are hosting an introductory session for the Christianity Explored course (2pm). If you are interested in exploring the Christian faith you are welcome to attend either one of these sessions which we are running online. The course is free and no one is asked to read the bible or pray. There are also no expectations to do the whole course. Perhaps it is fitting during these difficult times to ask a question that Christianity Explored seeks to answer;
One life: what’s it all about?
Please contact email@example.com for further details and please see this promotional video for more information;

At our recent prayer meeting the Outreach Group gave us an update about some of our hopes for 2021. Of course our plans were thrown into disarray in 2020 so what was shared was tentative and subject to change. However, it’s fair to say that despite the challenges of 2020 we were pleased with the ministry we were still able to do and much of this has been pencilled in again for 2021. This table gives a brief overview of 2021 for your prayers although we also want to emphasise the importance of one to one ministry as outlined in the previous blog. The items marked in red are uncertain at the moment as we are unsure how things will play out this year. However, even the items we are more hopeful about are in the Lord’s hands
Recently our Outreach Group held an online event to help us think about reaching others with the good news of Jesus. We thought about the current climate and the challenges of event based ministry during this time.
Although we have adapted and enjoyed running several online events including both Christianity Explored and Life Explored in 2020 the group wanted to encourage us to think about one to one ministry.
We looked at three examples in the bible. Of course there’s nothing new in this but a refresher is always helpful. Continue reading “One to One Ministry”
I recently attended one of the online webinars through the Pastor’s Network which was to help churches think about how to deal with the new Covid restrictions in Scotland. Whilst it’s disappointing to be faced with fresh restrictions it was perhaps expected to some degree after the rules were relaxed over Christmas. I found the webinar to be balanced and helpful. Here are some of my notes taken from the session. As always these are my notes and not direct quotes.
